Also known as Zirconium Oxide, Zirconia is a very intriguing material that is transformed to a high tech ceramic when exposed to extremely hot temperatures. Once at this crystalline stage the addition of Yttrium Oxide is added to stabilise it and maintain that sexy look. It’s a new thing to the ring world, but don’t think this is an untested material – this has been used in some of the most high tech industries in the world, and is often found in high temperature aerospace applications and F1 brake discs.
