Gold Mens Rings: 9ct Gold Four Row Keeper Ring

The moment I spotted this ring at Designboom, I know it was love.

Designed by Chutapat Wittaya from Thailand, this ring is more than just a ring, it’s a work of art, and has for me a very pixel art / Lego feel with it’s raised points making up the retro style LOVE lettering.

It’s available in either the yellowish gold finish above or a silver plated finish, and whilst it appears to be modelled by a woman, I personally think this ring will look much better on a man – just as long as you can squeeze your finger through the one size internal diameter of 16.5 to 17.5 mm.

And even if you can’t, I’m still pretty tempted to get it just for it’s design value.

Look at most high street jewellers and you’ll notice something. The rings, whilst gorgeous, are very very similar.

There’s a reason why. They know these styles of rings sell, and so that’s what they put out. For them there’s no point in having windows full of rings that intrigue people but only get bought by one in every 1000 people.

It makes good business sense, but what it doesn’t make for is a good shopping experience if you want something a bit different, right.

A few years ago it would have been near on impossible to find anything that varied from the norm.

Then sites like Etsy came along.

Etsy is a site that allows people who makes things to sell them online without needing to stocked by a shop. This has meant a huge increase in independent jewellery designers making their wares available, and my ring maker of the moment has to be Steampunk.

Just take a look at that ring above. Styled out of copper wire, an amber bead and clock parts this is definitely not your average ring. This is the kind of ring that’s going to get you a whole lot of attention.

And how much is something like this going to cost you? £100? £200?

If you’re after something that’s as modern in style as it is simple, then the 18ct Yellow And White Gold Mens Wedding Ring could be the one for you.

Measuring 6.25mm wide, this ring is chunkier than most wedding bands. Surprisingly though it doesn’t feel it, and that for me is down to the bands of the colour acting to give the ring a more condensed and compact look.

These bands are made up of two different materials – yellow gold and white gold and two different styles of polishing – polished and sandblasted.

To the outer edges of the ring you have white gold. Polished to give a gorgeous shine, this, for me, gives this ring a gorgeous modern feel, and acts to give a definite finish to the ring in one of the most stylish ways I’ve seen.

To the centre of the ring there are three bands styled together. Made up of yellow gold, white gold and then yellow gold again, these three bands are sandblasted giving it the look of having been stroked with a paintbrush whilst wet, which contrasts with the  polished white gold edge beautifully.

The look of the ring is definitely modern with it’s crisp white gold border, but what I like about it most is it’s subtlety. The white and yellow gold bands are impressive, but not overpowering. The styling is striking but not over dramatic. It truly is a wedding ring that you will be proud to wear every day of your married life.
